We were able to talk to little miss Sarah for a little bit this afternoon through email. Here's some things she had to say:
"HELLO HELLO FROM MARYSVILLE WASHINGTON. So glad to hear that Tampa was good. We will have to go back. Or just go to Italy. I am currently at the local library. There is a girl across from me who is with some other people having a bible study, but currently she is talking about her whole life story. I am so totally listening to it all because this is all such good book material. The people I have met here are so interesting. She is talking about when she ran away from home to live with the hippies, now she teaches homeless people how to survive and stuff. She is a vagabond. ANYWHO I will stop focusing on her.
Maybe. . . "
"I taught my first lesson this week! To a 20 year old girl. We taught her about prayer, the restoration and the Book of Mormon. We also read with her. She came to church yesterday and it was so great! Mom... it was meant to be. Like, we found her tracting. Most sketchy house ever. Ok, not ever, but it probably one of the more safe ones compared to the other places around here. But the work is GOOD! My apartment is critter."
"STORY TIME:
Remember how weird people flock to me? Kay, well hasn't changed. One bit. Also, ironic you brought up breaking bad... My area covers Tulalip, which is a huge Indian Reservation. Rough rough crowd. Like........ went tracting and it was like a movie / snippets of breaking bad. The lifestyle and houses and people... yet gorgeous because of all the shades of green out here. (Shades of Grey/Shades of Green...hahahahah puny me. K BACK TO MISSIONARY SARAH) ANYWHOOOOOOOOOoo I guess there is big alcohol and drug problem on the res. LIke the bishop, ward members, and even a few non members that we talked to, warned Sister Amataga and me about where we go. Drugs being herion. Just recently a car crashed in a ditch and the guy had a needle in his arm. I AM LIVING IN A MOVIE. I am probably going to make mom worried sick. TRUST MY JUDGMENT. Sister Amataga and I know that this gospel is for everyone so we want to share it. We do listen to the holy ghost though. It is way too strong to ignore. And would be quite stupid to ignore. So there's a little preview to what I will be telling you about."
"I guess I will end with telling you my companion is my life saver. Everyone says she is the best trainer and a mom to all the sisters. Her name is Sister Amataga and is straight from Samoa. Sometimes I do things or says things and I think she thinks I am the weirdest and smallest white girl. When the mission President announced us being companions, he got all choked up and started to cry. Then he called our names and testified how inpspired these calls are. He is amazing and the Lord is too. I love the work I am doing and am so happy, even though this work is HARD. I know I am where I need to be."
"I've gotten e mails from the family! Tell them thanks! Also, use the mission address! They forward letters to my address! It safer that way so then no mail gets lots in transfers."
"Thanks for all the love and support. I couldn't do anything without my family"
Now onto a few photos she sent us:
